SPOTREP

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what players ask most.

What is Spotrep?

A training game for recognising military equipment: tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery, air defence, aircraft, drones and infantry weapons, from real photos. You name what you see; the more precise the call, the more you score.

How does the daily challenge work?

Every day at 00:00 UTC there’s a new set of five targets, the same for everyone, with 30 seconds each and one thermal image. You get one attempt, and it counts on the leaderboard. Playing on consecutive days builds your day streak.

How is a round scored?

1,000 for the exact model, 600 for the right family (a T-72B for a T-72B3), 250 for the right type (a tank, but the wrong one), plus up to 300 for speed on exact and family answers. A hint costs 200. Only your first answer counts, and the time is measured on our server.

What does difficulty change?

Which models come up in Classic, Russian forces and Infantry weapons. Recruit picks iconic equipment, Specialist common types and main variants, Expert rarer models and close look-alikes. It doesn’t change the photos or the points. Once enough players have met a model, its level follows how often they name it exactly.

What’s free, and what does Pro add?

The daily challenge, basic training and 5 practice games a day are free. Pro ($4.99 a month or $39 a year) adds unlimited practice, Training with spaced repetition, Variants, Friend or foe and the daily archive. You can cancel any time from your account.

What are XP, levels and Merit?

XP comes from your answers and raises your level. Merit is earned from play and achievements and can be spent at the Quartermaster on cosmetics and practice aids. Merit can’t be bought and never helps in the ranked daily.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play as a guest; your progress is kept in this browser. Add an email on your account page to keep it across devices.

Where do the photos come from?

Mostly from Wikimedia Commons, under licences that allow commercial use, with the photographer credited. See the source policy and the image credits.

I found a mistake. How do I report it?

After a round, use “Report a problem”. On a model’s page in the field guide, use “Suggest a correction”. Every report is read.

Can I hide from the leaderboard or delete my data?

Yes. You can hide yourself from other players’ boards, download everything we store about you, or delete your account, all from your account page. See the privacy policy.

Is this official identification guidance?

No. Spotrep uses open sources only and is for learning. It may contain mistakes, so don’t rely on it for real-world decisions.

Still stuck?

Use “Suggest missing equipment” in the field guide.
